Cellular Operators
For travelers local prepaid SIMs are available at many major hotels. Satellite phones may require letter of permission from the ETC prior to bringing such phones through customs.
Ethio Telecom (Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation)
The Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) is the sole telecommunication service provider in Ethiopia. Based in Addis Ababa, it is the second-largest state-owned company in Ethiopia. It supports GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100 standards.
