How to change the APN setting on your MiFi device

Huawei E5830

1. Insert the SIM card

2. Connect the MiFi to your PC using the USB cable

3. Allow the '3 WiFi manager' to install (first time use only)

4. Open '3 WiFi Manager' and select 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Profile Management' > 'New'

5. Configure the APN settings and Dial Up number for the mobile operator you want to use

6. Select 'Default' for the APN settings that you want the MiFi to use


Huawei E585

1. Open '3MobileWiFi' or go to http://192.168.1.1

2. Find the section 'Change Your Settings'

3. Enter admin password (By default the password is 'Admin')

4. Click Log In

5. Click Advanced Settings > Connection Settings > Profile Settings > New

6. ‘Profile Name’ – Anything you want (e.g. Vodafone Profile)

7. ‘Connection Number’- *99#

8. ‘UserName’ – Your network operator’s username

9. ‘Password’ - Your network operator’s password

10. ‘Authntication’ - PAP

11. APN - Your network operator’s APN

12. IP Address - Dynamic

13. Click Save > Continue > Advance Settings > Connection Settings > Connection Settings

14. Select your new profile from the 'Profile List' drop down menu (e.g. Vodafone Profile)

15. Click Apply

Steps required to manually configure the APN settings

1. Connect the E586 to your PC either by the USB cable or WiFi

2. Open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1

3. Login using the username 'Admin' and enter admin password (By default the password is 'Admin')

4. Click Log In

5. Click Settings > Profile Management

6. Untick 'Auto APN:'

7. Select New Profile

8. ‘Profile Name’ – Anything you want (e.g. Vodafone Profile)

9. ‘Connection Number’- *99#

10. ‘UserName’ – Your network operator’s username

11. ‘Password’ - Your network operator’s password

12. ‘Authentication’ - PAP

13. APN - Select Static and enter Your network operator’s APN

14. IP Address - Dynamic

15. Click Save

16. Select Mobile Connection

17. From the 'Profile Name:' dropdown box select the profile you want to use

18. Click Apply

19. Click OK to confirm selection


Novatel 2352/2372

1. From your web browser, enter http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press "enter"

MiFi’s Home page will open. This is the login page to the browser interface and also provides access to your microSDHC card

Windows only: You can click Add to Favorites to bookmark the page in your browser for easier access

2. Enter “admin” into the Login window in the upper right corner of the window and click Login. The Home page for the browser interface will open

3. Select Internet > Internet Profiles. The Internet Profiles – Set Internet Profiles page will open

4. Select the profile for your provider from the Profile list and click the Edit Internet Profile button. The Internet Profiles – Edit Profile page will open

5. If desired, change the Profile Name to something more descriptive, for example My MiFi

6. Enter the APN, Username, Password and other information you were given by your service provider

7. Click Apply

8. Click the Return to Profile List link

9. Click Apply on the Internet Profiles – Set Internet Profile screen

D-Link DIR-457/457U

1. Click the Profile button

2. Click the New button to activate the wizard which will help you create a new profile

3. Select the profile type, Preconfigured Profile or User Defined Profile. Click Next to continue

4. Select a Profile Name from the drop-down menu. Most of the required information will be populated into the fields automatically

5. If you prefer/required to manually input the settings , fill in the Phone Number, APN (Access Point Network), User Name, and Password

6. If desired, click the check box to set this as the default profile. 7. Click Next to continue

8. Fill in the Profile Name, Phone Number, APN, User Name, Password, and Authorization Type

9. Click Finish to complete

10. Click the Advanced button to display APN details

11. Highlight an APN and click OK


NetComm MyZone

1. On your device, scan for and connect to the "NetComm MyZone" SSID

2. Your initial security key is "password"

3. Type http://my.zone to connect to the configuration manager

4. Initial User name and password are "admin" and "admin", respectively

5. After logging in, please go to the "3G/HSPA" tab to modify your 3G network setting

6. Enter the APN, username and password at the appropriate fields (your MyZone device already stores some APN names, so once you've inserted your SIM the MyZone device should connect automatically within 1-5 minutes).

7. Click the "Save" button to store the settings on your device

8. Your MyZone device should now connect to the internet 8. Done!
